Being stung by a wasp isn’t pleasant, and for some, can be life-threatening if you are allergic to stings. Wasps are often mistaken for bees and are also confused with other stinging insects. They are also well known for building their nests in random locations around your home and business, like around your decking area, in the eaves of your house, but they can also go undisturbed in attics and lofts until they are discovered in the spring.
Treating a wasp nest can be very dangerous. Wasps inside the nest will feel threatened and often become very aggressive. This could cause them to sting you and others as they defend their nest resulting in multiple stings! One of Britain’s most feared and potentially aggressive pests, wasps are known for their nasty stings and seemingly unprovoked attacks.
In reality, wasps will usually only attack a person if they feel threatened. The problem is a social wasp in distress emits a pheromone that sends nearby colony members into a defensive, stinging frenzy.

We Care Pest Control Hull had a very busy wasp season last year, and we‘re now prepared for the next wasp season. Whilst callouts start boosting heading into summer, we have found active Wasp nests very early in the year going all the way to November / December in some situations.

DIY wasp nest treatment is very dangerous and can be deadly, please seek professional advise and DO NOT try and block entry points on active nests, This can force wasps to push back through the opposite side into your home. Last year we treated hundreds of wasp nests + several hornet nests for residential and commercial clients, the back end of the season is when nests are at their peak. check the picture above of a wasp nest we treated and removed.
Last season we also attended an emergency callout at a residential home, wasps had chewed through the plaster board and flooded into a child’s bedroom. We managed to treat and remove the nest by cutting into the ceiling. When the wasps nest area is at full capacity, wasps will start making extra room for expansion, which includes chewing plasterboard, we attended 8 jobs last season where wasps had chewed into loft conversions via plaster board.
